Goodie, goodie another spot to gamble. Now I have to think , should I play my on-line regular game or should I go to that tournament at the Indian reservation? Maybe I will go to the races but then again my friend has a home game on Saturday. So many places and so little time. Don’t worry there is always a spot for you to gamble. If you miss the track all 7 weeks then you can meet up with the horses in Pamona at the fair, then Santa Anita and then Hollywood Park where they play poker too. Don’t get nervous about where you are going to play next. I used to be in a hurry when I lived in Las Vegas, didI think one of the casino’s were going to close? Most of the old casinos are gone now but I used to play at The Sahara and it is still there. What was my hurry? If you are getting that anxious feeling maybe you better slow donwn and regroup. Are you a serious gambler or a pleasure player? Either way you could be a compulsive gambler , so keep yourself in check. Remember to do things with the family and don’t think about where you’re going to play when you drop them off. If you have these feelings and cannot controll them then maybe a little visit to GA is in order. Or talk to someone you are very close to and let it all hang out. Sometimes when you say it out loud it hits you. Remeber gambling is a pastime a hobby, it shouldn’t be on your mind ALL of the time. Willpower is your, use it…

Here are the November Nine from the last table for the WSOP at The Rio. One of these guys is going to be famous and a millionaire soon. This is the first year that they are waiting 4 months to finish the tournament. Reminds me of the campaign trail this year. Hope we are not bored to death watching them. I hope the media does not overdo the coverage. We will however pick one out that we can cheer for. Sorta like a beauty pagent…Pick your cutie and make a side bet on your pick.

Yeah Baby, the winner of the Lips Poker Championship won $17,285 beating out almost 200 gals. I never have won a ladies tournament but I have won others. I guess when I play with my peers they have my number. I think we mix up the men but to tell you the truth, the ladies I play with get me mixed up myself. We have more intuition and I’m sorry, do a few dumb things as a result. Sometimes our intuition is not fine tuned, but when it is LOOK OUT! i had more fun in Vegas than i have ever had (in Vegas). I lived there for 5 years and couldn’t wait to leave. Now I like to come back about every 5 years or so. I took my 22 yr. old daughter who has never been to SinCity. We had a ball. After the 8 hrs I spent at the tournament and 5 hrs. the day b4, I didn’t feel like playing poker. So we went dancing at The Hard Rock. Took in the roller coaster at New York New York. I played a little roulette with my daughter and won about $300. Everyone tells me what bad odds roulette has BUT I only start with $20 and when it is gone I am too. I hit 3 out of 4 numbers when i first started to play. Just a $2 number that hits wins you $70. I did that a couple of times then when i ldidn’t hit 2 spins in a row, i quit. That is really how to beat any game in Vegas. The way the city was built was on the backs of players who put a limit on their wins but not on their losses!

On my way to the Ladies International Poker Series in Las Vegas at The Orleans. Two of us ladies won entries into the tournament and we are planning to bring the gold back to San Diego! I never liked playing in women only tournaments in the past but things are changing at a rapid pace. As you guys well know, women are different then men and poker is no exception. Out of the highest one hundred money making poker players, there is only one woman. These stats are not true because it only takes in consideration certain tournaments and no live play. I remember in the 70’s when it was advertised “Women welcome if accomanied by a male”. It was in northern California and I was offended. Maybe that’s why i became the first woman poker dealer n Las Vegas. My personal profile; mydeardealer.blogspot.
We play better now and do things that the women before us, didn’t have the opportunity to do. Men were playing poker at their weekly games while we were tending to our homes and families, idealy that is. Some of the women did sneak off to play back in the day. My own mother was one. These women were not well thought of or maye too well thought of. These gambling women with their manly ways were the party girls of the age. Hustler was not a well recieved notion and that goes double for the female gender. Women have been labled just as society does with every gender, creed and religion. If you don’t fit the mold then you must be wrong or evil or BAD, usually all of the above. Those of us who look so called manly because it’s a hat and jeans day, what we are most comfortable in. Or it’s a make-up and flirty look, kinda day and opinions are drawn from that by the weaker sex, be it man or woman! We all have our times to feel weak and vulnurable but at the poker table is not the place. The girls are all grown up now, in every sense of the phrase. Play like woman!

So you think you might want to run off to Vegas and become a professional dealer? It seems almost glamorous and exciting, for sure. Anyway that is the way it looks in the movies that you’ve seen, RIGHT? Of course, there was that scene in “Casino” where Joe Pesci is cursing and throwing cards at the blackjack dealer and she has to be replaced by a male dealer who could TAKE IT. As a poker dealer from the (good) ol’ days, i can tell you that I have seen unbelievable things happen in Vegas. the time at The Alladin when a sore looser was sitting at the poker table and unzipped and whipped it out while “whizzing” on the dealers leg. The poor thing stayed through her down and then, when relieved from her table, she found some napkins and wiped off her leg (she was wearing a skirt). After cleaning up she went on to deal the next table like nothing out of the ordinary ever happened. It was quite common for players to blow smoke in the faces of the dealers. One particular cigar smoker comes to mind. He was one of the originals but he came over from Tennesse and came in a little later, right after the Texas boys were setteling in on the poker scene in Vegas. He liked to sit next to the dealer so he could whisper sick & crude nastiness in your ear. He never said those things to me because he used to pick his spots, like most bullys do. He died a few years ago and was written up in a poker magazine like a icon who will be missed by everyone. NOT! He sometimes made the dealers so nervous or mad or both, that a mistake would almost always be made at his table. My tip of the week, DON’T BULLY YOUR DEALER
