Casino dealing is exciting!!!
So you think you might want to run off to Vegas and become a professional dealer? It seems almost glamorous and exciting, for sure. Anyway that is the way it looks in the movies that you’ve seen, RIGHT? Of course, there was that scene in “Casino” where Joe Pesci is cursing and throwing cards at the blackjack dealer and she has to be replaced by a male dealer who could TAKE IT. As a poker dealer from the (good) ol’ days, i can tell you that I have seen unbelievable things happen in Vegas. the time at The Alladin when a sore looser was sitting at the poker table and unzipped and whipped it out while “whizzing” on the dealers leg. The poor thing stayed through her down and then, when relieved from her table, she found some napkins and wiped off her leg (she was wearing a skirt). After cleaning up she went on to deal the next table like nothing out of the ordinary ever happened. It was quite common for players to blow smoke in the faces of the dealers. One particular cigar smoker comes to mind. He was one of the originals but he came over from Tennesse and came in a little later, right after the Texas boys were setteling in on the poker scene in Vegas. He liked to sit next to the dealer so he could whisper sick & crude nastiness in your ear. He never said those things to me because he used to pick his spots, like most bullys do. He died a few years ago and was written up in a poker magazine like a icon who will be missed by everyone. NOT! He sometimes made the dealers so nervous or mad or both, that a mistake would almost always be made at his table. My tip of the week, DON’T BULLY YOUR DEALER
